Basic Sewing (Introductory to Intermediate Level)
April 13 – June 1, 2017 (Thursdays, 8 weeks)
6:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Learn basic machine and hand sewing skills in a supportive environment. This class is designed for novice and beginner sewers.Topics include pattern and fabric selection, cutting and construction techniques, understanding and using your machine, basic machine and hand stitches and simple alterations. Participants will also have an opportunity to work on a manageable project of their choice.
Paula Muise loves to make clothes. She has been a figure in the local arts scene, designing and constructing costumes for film and theatre. Her recent collections have clothed women of all ages and sizes. She is currently working on a project using Marimekko fabric collected in Finland last year and she has been invited to workshop her interpretation of this iconic fabric at Finlandia University in Michigan in 2018.
Paula is now working on her Summer 2017 collection to be unveiled in June at Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design.
