The project can be modified for a variety of skill levels, but students should have basic sewing skills and be able to: thread the machine, wind a bobbin, and stitch a seam.

Materials and Supplies - Please bring to every class
Tools and Notions
Ruler - see through ruler at least 12” long is best, but a regular ruler will do as well.
Tape measure - flexible, but not stretchy
Pencil - just a regular old pencil, mechanical is fine too.
Fabric pencil or Watercolour pencil - for marking on dark fabrics (choose a light colour like yellow or pink)
Scissors
Snips (optional - for clipping threads at the machine)
Seam ripper - for those moments when you need to ‘reverse sew.’
Hand sewing needles - mix pack
Pins
Thimble - should fit on your middle finger tight enough that it won’t fly off if you wave your hand
A spool of thread (any colour will do)
Box or Basket to hold all this stuff

Fabric and Thread etc.
We will supply fabric for sewing samples and practice.
Shirt pattern will be provided (in any size).
For the second class you will need to source or purchase project fabric, thread and buttons, but you may want to wait until we discuss the project during the first class.

Sewing Machine
If you have a machine that you would like to use feel free to bring it to class. If you don’t have a machine, don’t worry! We’ll have a few on hand to share between participants.
