Plein Air Workshop with Kenny Boone – Painting the Colours of Louisbourg

Friday, August 4 and Saturday, August 5, 2017
10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Instructor: Kenny Boone
Fee: $100 plus HST

Plein air is a French expression describing the act of painting outdoors, where the artist creates the actual visual conditions seen at the time of painting.

Join artist Kenny Boone as he guides you through a plein air workshop at the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site and the Louisbourg Lighthouse. The workshop will focus on simplification of the scenery into a paintable subject. Kenny will touch on painting topics including composition, design, colour and applying paint. Participants can paint in acrylic, oil or watercolour. This workshop is suitable for both recreational and professional artists.

This plein air workshop coincides with the Tall Ships Regatta in the town of Louisbourg, creating a unique environment for participants to step back in time to the 18th century or capture the surrounding coastline in a historic fishing village.

Kenny has been a full-time artist for 26 years. His use of colour and design have become his visual voice, one that reflects a love for nature and an island he proudly calls home. Kenny’s constant creative exploration has resulted in works of art that are distinctive and stunning, fulfilling for the artist and viewer.
