Katherine Scott – Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design

Katherine Scott

Katherine Scott grew up in Toronto in a family of displaced maritimers. After completing a B.A. and M.L.I.S, she drifted back east with the tide. Like a kelp holdfast she rooted firmly in place here over 20 years ago. Her waves of creativity come from wandering the shores of this island. A compulsive “Maker of Things”, her work explores the intertidal zone through photography, prose, poetry, mixed media and artist books. Finding a slim biscuit of sand dollar or a drop of sand-scrubbed glass is inspiration for the day’s work, or finding twenty words to describe the blue of the bay on a Tuesday morning in September.

Katherine lives and maintains studios in the old village hall in Gabarus, and in Sydney at Eltuek Arts Centre.
