Marie MacDonald – Cape Breton Centre for Craft

Marie MacDonald

World-renowned weaver, Marie MacDonald, crafts one-of-a kind pieces by beautifully blending colours and fibres to create shrugs, scarves, table runners and more. She worked for many years as on site weaver at the acclaimed Gaelic College of Arts & Crafts in St. Ann’s where particular emphasis was placed on tartans and the delicate overshot patterns brought to Cape Breton by the early settlers. Now retired from the College, Marie continues to weave in her inimitable style at her home in Washabuck.
