This eight week intermediate course will cover some more advanced methods of creating pots on and off the wheel. Students will add on to existing skills, develop new techniques and will leave with the ability to create more complicated objects than mugs and bowls. Projects may include double walled vessels, lidded vessels, altered vessels and teapots.

**Students must have previous throwing experience and be confident with centering and throwing a cylinder**

The Centre provides all tools, equipment, glazes and firings. Students purchase clay from the Centre.

Alana Wilson holds her BFA from NSCAD University and her MFA in Ceramics from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Though she dabbles in many mediums, her main focus has always been on clay. Alana employs a variety of hand building techniques in her own work which has dealt with the themes of nostalgia and nomadism. Currently an artist in residence at the Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design, Alana is excited to be back in Nova Scotia and to share her clay knowledge and process.

Advanced registration for members begins August 24. General registration for non members begins September 7.
