Though the projects will focus on functional objects, the techniques covered could be used for a variety of outcomes. The Centre provides tools, equipment, glazes and firings.

Students purchase clay from the Centre. (No class on October 14)

Alana Wilson holds her BFA from NSCAD University and her MFA in Ceramics from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Though she dabbles in many mediums, her main focus has always been on clay. Alana employs a variety of hand building techniques in her own work which has dealt with the themes of nostalgia and nomadism. Currently an artist in residence at the Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design, Alana is excited to be back in Nova Scotia and to share her clay knowledge and process.
