Do you have some weaving experience but still consider yourself a ‘beginning’ weaver? Or do you want to learn to weave but are intimidated by the loom and the thought of setting it up? If so, this class could be just what you’re looking for you. Looms will be warped, threaded, ready to weave. Students will move from loom to loom in a round robin style workshop and will have an opportunity to work on a variety of weave structures. We will focus on projects and techniques that are good options for the novice weaver. Projects include rag rug weaving, a bronson lace table topper, summer and winter tea towel and a plain weave variation or eyelash scarf. This class is designed to help novice weavers jumpstart their knowledge of weave structures, gain practical advice, techniques, and tips, all in one place.

Class fees include instruction, tools, equipment and yarns or threads. All materials are provided with the exception of a sheet which students must provide for the rag weaving project. Space is limited to 8 participants. In order to complete the planned projects, students are encouraged to work on their projects outside of class time. In addition to class period, bench time is available Monday to Saturday 10 am to 4 pm and some evenings from 6 pm to 9 pm.

Diane Campbell has been weaving since 1990 when she began learning from mentor and friend Patricia McClelland. Diane has a great appreciation for fine craft and textiles in particular. She has tried her hand at hooked rugs, quilt making, felting and more but it is the call of the loom that continually draws her back to weaving. Diane enjoys creating a wide variety of handwovens – from household linens to tartan throws, rugs and overshot coverlets.
