This fun back to basics workshop includes four different, 3-hour classes that will provide beginners with the knowledge and confidence they need to tap into their creative potential while building a strong foundation in digital photography.

Students will learn about their cameras, and how to use manual settings to get the most out of their D-SLR. The workshop covers all the bases of technical and artistic fundamentals through instruction, Q&A, a photo field trip, photo assignments, and constructive critiques from two of the island’s leading young professionals.

Students will be required to arrange their own travel for photo field trip day. Location yet to be determined. Students are also required to have a D-SLR or Mirrorless with manual controls and interchangeable lenses.

Corey Katz is a self-taught photographer from New Waterford, NS. Over the years he’s established himself as one of the province’s most diverse young talents, as comfortable on a commercial shoot as he is capturing fine art landscapes. Recipient of the Sydney & Area Chamber of Commerce’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2013, and Cape Breton Partnership’s Vital CB Excellence Award in 2015, Corey’s artistic vision and entrepreneurial spirit continue to soar. A recognized talent among his peers and clients alike, Corey has had his work published in regional, national and international newspapers and magazines.

Steve Wadden is an award-winning photojournalist based in Sydney. In late 2012, Steve shifted his focus towards producing long-term photo documentaries and found a mentor in National Geographic contributing photographer, Randy Olson. Today, his work continues to grow and evolve-driven by his passion for life and devotion to inspiring others through the power of photography.
