Weekly Open Studio for students who have done one or two 8 weeks sessions and want to continue the practice. This is not a beginner class – students must have previous experience and be able to work independently. * There is no guidance provided during this time.
Part of the open studio process is basic studio etiquette, students must:
- have completed one or two week sessions before joining
- be familiar with the policies and procedures of the pottery studio
- there will be a liability release form for you to sign of agreement for studio rules and health and safety upon your first visit
- be able to work on their projects without instruction
- clean-up of your space after use is mandatory, clean up at your wheel and wipe down any surfaces as needed
- return studio tools back to their storage area after each use
- wear close-toed shoes and long hair tied back in the studio
- not allow guests, including family and children in the studio during this time
- not bring food in the studio
- wear a mask while sanding or mixing glazes
- Kiln clay explosions are unlikely but they do happen. In the event of your art being damaged due to a kiln explosion, we are happy to provide you a chance to come in and remake your clay art piece.
- Students are reminded to sign their work. Otherwise, we cannot promise your work won’t be mixed up with someone else’s.
Fees includes the use of tools, equipment and glazes. Students can purchase clay from the Centre. Open studio does not include the price of kiln space rental. If you want us to fire your pottery, there is a firing cost (includes bisque and glaze). Tammy will arrange for a firing at the end of the four week session.
Advance registration for members begins January 2
