Fabrication for Jewellery (Introductory Level)
Date: October 17 – November 28, 2019 (Thursdays, 6 weeks)

In this 6 week course, you will be learning basic metalsmithing techniques to create a band ring and bangle bracelet in sterling silver. Students will learn piercing, filing, soldering with a torch, forming and finishing as well as some decorative techniques to create unique, handmade jewellery. Great for beginners without previous fabrication experience! (No class on October 31)

Tuition fees include the use of all tools and equipment. Approximate $40 – $50 for sterling silver material.

Tammy McClennan is a Canadian artist who has exhibited in North America and Europe. She attended OCADU in Toronto where she studied Sculpture/Installation and later studied Metalsmithing at NSCADU in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her work is an exploration of forms, materials and fabrication techniques, often with environmental themes. She is currently an Artist in Residence at the Cape Breton Centre for Craft & and Design in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
