Using pre-made slabs, participants will construct and decorate a small box with a sliding drawer for containing small treasures such as rings, shells, baby teeth, feathers, or anything else tiny they like to collect. No previous clay experience necessary. The Centre provides the clay, tools, equipment, glazes and firings.

Alana Wilsonholds her BFA from NSCAD University and her MFA in Ceramics from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Though she dabbles in many mediums, her main focus has always been on clay. Alana employs a variety of hand building techniques in her own work which has dealt with the themes of nostalgia and nomadism. Currently an artist in residence at the Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design, Alana is excited to be back in Nova Scotia and to share her clay knowledge and process.
