Paint Figures in Watercolour (Intermediate to Advanced Level)

Outline:
How to compose, draw and paint the figure in watercolor.
Paint application, values, colour mixing, simplification, and adding details.
Demonstration and paint along with lots of tips and individual help.
Day ends with a critique of the student’s work.

Suggested Material list:
Colours – palette of warm and cool primaries
Alizarin Crimson or similar
Cadium Red or similar
Ultramarine Blue
Cobalt blue
Cerulean or Thalo Blue
Cad Yellow or lemon yellow or similar hue
Viridian Green or similar (Optional)
Raw Sienna
Burnt Sienna

Watercolour paper (140 lb is sufficient): 1 or 2 full sheets to divide. Bill likes to use half sheet or larger – recommend Cold press or rough. You can work smaller if you like. (11×15)

Board or Support Bill likes a board made of multi-layer foam core glued together, but Masonite, plywood etc. is fine. For small works a 12×16 inch board is good, for larger sizes you can have a 16×23 board or 18×23 board – your choice depending on how large you like to work.

Brushes Bill uses rounds # 6, and 12 and a One inch flat – 4 or 5 in total will do. Hair can be sable or squirrel/synthetic mix or synthetic if you can’t get the other types.
