Unrefined Paint & Wine 19+ Event
Date: December 1, 2023 (Friday)
Time: 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm
Instructor: Bailee Higgins
Fee: $65 (tax included)
Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design invites you for Unrefined Paint & Wine, a very special night of creativity and fun. You’ll spend time with friends painting your own masterpiece! The night is guided by an experienced artist and it’s relaxed and unrefined in its approach. You don’t have to be a budding Van Gogh; you just have to be you. All materials and supplies are provided.
Bailee Higgins is a graduate of Mount Allison University’s Fine Arts program and is a Master of Arts in Art Education student at NSCAD University. She is a visual artist, art facilitator and researcher with a passion for community. Her art often draws inspiration from the landscapes of her upbringing in Unama’ki – Cape Breton.
Where Should I go?
Use the rear entrance and proceed to the multi-purpose room (same level)
This is a fun and easy two-hour class of guided instructions to help create your very own mug. It is beginner level with no previous experience required. All pieces will be dishwasher and microwave safe. The workshop fee includes all materials, clay, glazes and firing, tools and equipment. Most work will be ready for pick up two weeks later. We’ll dry and fire your artwork in our kiln for you to take home approximately 14 days later and we will send you an email as soon as your mug has been fired and is ready to drink in!
Kiln clay explosions are unlikely but they do happen. In the event of your art being damaged due to a kiln explosion, we are happy to provide emotional support and offer you a chance to come in and remake your clay art piece. Students are reminded to sign their work. Otherwise, we cannot promise your work won’t be mixed up with someone else’s.
When Should I Arrive?
Arrive 15 minutes early to get settled and grab your wine before you experience begins. Please enter by the rear entrance located on the Esplanade and proceed to the multi-purpose room (same level)
What Should I Wear?
We recommend wearing comfortable, casual clothes that you do not mind getting clay on. We will provide an apron!
