2026 March Break Camps

Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design is excited to be holding its annual march break programming again this year from Monday, March 16th to Friday, March 20th! Students will learn basic elements of craft and design by experiencing hands-on craft projects and activities.

Pottery, Hand-Building
Instructor: Glynis Thomas
Date: March 16th to 20th
Time: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm

Ages: 7 to 11
Cost: $150

Clay is a wonderful, tactile medium, its three-dimensional nature allows young people to explore structure, shapes and forms. Students will learn through hands-on guidance and enjoy lots of fun creating several art projects that are both functional and decorative. Work will be kiln fired and ready for pick up within two weeks.

Glynis has always had a passion for art and shares that love with her four children. She has been painting, drawing, and sculpting (with clay, paper) for over 40 years. Glynis believes in combining the knowledge of how clay can be worked with self-expression, laughter and the joy of art for the sake of art. (RESPECT & DARE certified instructor for kids. First Aid, CPR Instructor for 30 yrs).

Tuition fee includes clay, glazes, tools, and firing. Please bring your imagination.

All the techniques taught apply to all ages.

  • Slips (how to attach the fun bits)
  • Pattern (and eyes, fangs, horns, tails, fins, petals)
  • Pinch pot critters & monsters (can be made into a cellphone holder)
  • Coil bowl (small)
  • Slabs (with rolling pin) into a mug with lots of crazy decoration (perfect for holding brushes & pens).
  • How to add colour – glazes
