Rachel Hunt – Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design

Rachel Hunt

Rachel Hunt is a goldsmith based in Sydney, Nova Scotia, working in solid gold and silver using traditional hand fabrication techniques. She got her start at the Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design and has been drawn to jewelry and the stories it carries for as long as she can remember. Rachel’s work is genuinely handmade: no computers, no castings. Starting from pure gold and silver, she alloys, melts, hammers, and coaxes metal into form by hand. From design to setting stones, each step happens in her studio. It’s a slow, deliberate process, and she thinks that’s exactly the point. That sensibility shapes everything she makes: pieces that feel both modern and timeless, built to last a lifetime and then some.
