Hand-Building for Adults (Introductory Level)

Explore the fundamentals of hand-building with clay in this introductory course for adults. Learn basic techniques for shaping and creating functional and decorative pieces in a relaxed, supportive setting with instructor Glynis Thomas. No previous experience is required. (no class on November 11)

Coil bowl with fall leaves (can be tweaked for using as a wool-ball bowl too), a draped bowl to play with forms & glazes, and a decorative tripod pot (or mug) with a lid. Smaller practice pieces can be used as single ornaments or made into a mobile or chime bell.

Class fees include the use of tools, equipment, firings and glazes. Students can purchase clay from the Centre. ($35/bag)

Glynis Thomas has always had a passion for art and shares that love with her four children. She has been painting, drawing, and sculpting (with clay, paper) for over 40 years. She is a certified instructor for the RESPECT & DARE (to resist drugs and violence) programs for children, as well as a First Aid/CPR Instructor for 30 yrs. Glynis believes in combining the knowledge of how clay can be worked with self-expression, laughter and the joy of creating art for its own sake.
