Mittens On Four Needles (Intermediate to Advanced Level)
Date: October 23 – November 6, 2025 (Thursdays, 3 weeks)

Learn to knit worsted weight mittens on dpns (double pointed needles). This technique means you don’t have to worry about knitting a right or left hand mitten. Students will learn how to increase for the thumb gusset, decreasing for top shaping, and how to pickup stitches for the thumb. Students must know how to cast on, basic knit and purl stitches, and be familiar with knitting on four needles.
Materials required:
100 grams of worsted weight yarn
1 set of 3.75mm dpns
1 set of 4mm dpns
I large eyed darning needle
Stitch holder or several large safety pins
Scissors
Tape measure
Note pad and pencil or pen
Week One:
Introductions (share what you feel comfortable to). You will explore the basic or knitting on with four needles. Practice yarn will be provided. Pattern will be read over, and mitten will be cast on.
Week Two:
This class you will share our progress and fix any problems or mistakes so far. Then you will undertake the shaping of the thumb gusset.
Week Three:
Shaping the top and picking up the thumb stitches.
