Discover the magical dance of colors on water with Ebru art! Participants will explore the techniques of this traditional Turkish art while preparing their own original pieces. This workshop offers an enjoyable and inspiring experience for participants of all levels. Material Fee Included. (No class October 13)
Sueda Sahin is a passionate Ebru (Marbling) artist. Her journey with Ebru began after completing her nursing education when she discovered this mesmerizing art form at the Kadir Topbaş Culture and Art Center in Istanbul. Over the past nine years, Sueda has shared Ebru with diverse groups, from children to the elderly, exploring its therapeutic benefits and rich cultural heritage.
Since moving to Canada, Sueda have organized over 40 Ebru workshops, introducing this unique art form to many for the first time. She aims to offer regular classes, share the beauty of Ebru with a wider audience, and provide meaningful experiences that connect people through art.

Lesson 1: Introduction to Ebru & Battal Pattern
- Brief history and cultural roots of Turkish Marbling
- Introduction to materials: water (size), paints, brushes, combs
- Exploring how colors interact on water
- Practicing the Battal pattern as the foundation of all Ebru designs
Lesson 2: Floral Ebru (Part 1)
- Step-by-step practice of beginner-level floral motifs
- Techniques for single stem and bouquet compositions
- Brush control for natural petals and balanced arrangements
- Combining flowers with Battal backgrounds
Lesson 3: Floral Ebru (Part 2)
- Learning more advanced floral forms with curved brush movements
- Practicing layered petals and color harmony
- Creating compositions with multiple flowers
- Developing individual style in floral designs
Lesson 4: From Paper to Project
- Selecting the best marbled papers created during the course
- Transforming Ebru works into projects: bookmarks, greeting cards, mini panels
- Tips for preserving and presenting Ebru art
- Final showcase and reflection on the learning journey
