Meet Camille Richart, Weaving Artist in Residence at Colaisde na Gàidhlig
Grounded in her early experiences of the natural world, Camille Richart’s work uses the medium of textiles as a vessel to interrogate our relationship with the environment. Camille has been integrating plastic waste into weaving, her preferred medium, where pattern and material reveal themselves thread by thread. Camille’s work is part of a conscious and committed approach aimed at repurposing materials often perceived as harmful, particularly plastic. Through her projects, she invites the surrounding community to participate actively by entrusting her with their plastic waste. This collective dimension not only raises awareness about responsible consumption but also encourages people to rethink our relationship with plastic as a raw material.
Come meet Camille and learn about her work in-person. Camille will work out of Colaisde na Gàidhlig | The Gaelic College daily during Craft Week:
Monday, June 1 – Sunday, June 7, 10AM-4PM
51779 Cabot Trail, St. Ann’s
