Course Description: Rug hooking is a fibre art that has many of its roots in Eastern Canada. This introductory class will introduce participants to the art of rug hooking over 6 weeks and will cover the equipment, history, styles, supplies and techniques. Learn the basics of creating beautiful hooked rugs, including picking materials, designing, hooking, and finishing your own unique piece.
Instructor Bio: Paula Davis has lived and worked in Port Hawkesbury since 1970 and has been involved with fibre arts since graduating from university. Paula has been rug hooking for over twenty years and particularly enjoys the primitive style. Paula has designed many of her own rugs, produced commissioned work, and hooked small to large pieces. She has also dyed and overdyed wool which allows for the recycling of used wool fabric. She has taught rug-hooking to children and adults and has attended several local, online, and international workshops. Rug Hooking has provided a great outlet for her love of colour and texture, producing pieces that are both functional and decorative.
