Call for Expressions of Interest: Weaving Artist in Residence
June 1–7, 2026 | Unama’ki Cape Breton Island

Colaisde na Gàidhlig (The Gaelic College), in partnership with Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design, invites weaving artists to apply for a one-week residency during Craft Week 2026.

This unique opportunity offers a fully equipped weaving studio, on-site accommodation, and a stipend to support your stay. The selected artist will create new work in an open studio setting, welcoming visitors to observe the creative process, ask questions, and engage in meaningful dialogue about weaving traditions and contemporary practice.

We welcome applications from established and emerging weavers working in traditional, contemporary, or experimental techniques. Artists from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply, with preference given to those based in Atlantic Canada.

Application deadline: March 25, 2026
Residency dates: June 1–7, 2026

Join us in celebrating craft, community, and the living tradition of weaving in the cultural heart of Cape Breton.
