A Beautiful Place

Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design is pleased to introduce, A Beautiful Place, an exhibition by Cape Breton visual artist, Catherine Moir. The opening reception for the exhibit will take place on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. in the Centre’s Loft.

Catherine uses oil and acrylic on canvas in a variety of sizes for the  20 plus paintings featured in A Beautiful Place, that represent the landscape and life found in Cape Breton. Also included are five paintings that Catherine recently completed while visiting her daughter in Australia.

Catherine Moir is an experienced landscape artist established within the art community in Cape Breton. Born in Halifax, Catherine attended Nova Scotia College of Art and Design at an early age where she learned drawing and painting. She also studied figure drawing at St. Mary’s University and the University of Alberta.

Catherine moved from Halifax in 1984 to live in Cape Breton permanently, painting the landscape, buildings and figures. She works en plein air and then in her own studio outside her home on the Morley Rd. in Eastern Cape Breton. For the past eight years, Catherine has been the coordinator for the Art of Living program which has an exhibition every summer at the Centre with established artists and cancer patients.

A Beautiful Place will be displayed in the Centre’s Loft until December 24, 2019.
