Artist in Residence – Cape Breton Centre for Craft

Artist in Residence

Artist in Residence Opportunity in Ingonish

Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design in collaboration with Parks Canada, is excited to present an Artist in Residence Program based in the spectacular Cape Breton Highlands National Park.

The program is open to Canadian and international professional artists working in visual or craft based arts. Artists may apply for an autumn residency period of six weeks, from September 16 – October 25, 2019.

Residencies offer professional artists the opportunity to focus for a concentrated period on developing new projects, or to work on existing projects within quiet, natural surroundings by the Atlantic Ocean.

Applications are reviewed by a jury of internal and external arts administrators, artists, educators, and by representatives of the partner organizations.

The deadline for applications is June 28, 2019.

If you have any questions or would like more information about this program, please contact Laura Collinet or 902 539 7491 ext 116.

Please note:

Two artists may make a joint application, each submitting their own visuals and other information, if they are prepared to share the honorarium and living/working space. These are working residencies; family and friends cannot accompany artists.

The purpose of the artist in residence program is to offer recent graduates and /or qualified craftspeople the opportunity to use studio space. Participants must be self-directed, must be able to work independently, must conduct themselves in a professional manner and must be able to work within a cooperative environment.

Being an artist in residence offers many opportunities including business skills development workshops, marketing and promotional opportunities, as well as instructing courses and workshops.
